Travel Information

By air

During the summer period there is a plethora of direct flights to Heraklion and Chania from many European cities. Check this possibility with your travel agent.

The airport closest to the conference cite is that of the city of Chania. The Orthodox Academy of Crete (OAC) is located 39km west of the airport.

The most direct way to reach the academy from the airport is via taxi. The full fare including airport surcharge should be around 30-35 Euros.

A cheaper, but less direct possibility is to take the bus from the airport towards the city of Chania and then take the bus towards Kastelli that stops at Kolymbari. This, however, will bring you about 1km before the location of the OAC.

In case you need to fly to Heraklion there are 3 ways to reach the OAC: A taxi would cost around 140 Euros for the trip. You can take the bus from Heraklion to Chania (one bus per hour). It takes 3hrs to reach Chania and then you may take a bus or taxi to Kolymbari.

By boat

Chania can be reached from Athens daily by boat. There are two companies operating the route; ANEK Lines and MINOAN Lines. Boats bring you to the Souda Bay from where you can access Chania and Kolymbari by bus or taxi.
