ROUGH COURSE DESCRIPTION

  • Quantum Field Theory: Dirac equation, free-field quantization, Feynman rules, QED, 1-loop renormalization, non-abelian theories, renormalization group, Ward identities, supersymmetry, non-perturbative techniques.

  • Modern General Relativity: Riemmanian geometry, Einstein equations, introduction to supergravity, special solutions (black-holes, dS, AdS), gravitational waves, introduction to cosmology.

  • Particle Phenomenology: The Standard Model, the MSSM and variations, present status and expectations from LHC. Beyond the Standard Model.

  • String Theory: The bosonic string theory. The open and closed (oriented and unoriented) string spectrum, conformal field theory, Polyakov path integral, scattering amplitudes, toroidal compactification, T-duality, D-branes and orientifolds, the superstring theory. Type-I, II and heterotic strings, superstring interactions, superstring phenomenology, AdS/CFT Correspondence, Holography.
